SUPER2 PREBRIEF: PAYNE'S PUSH FOR FINALE GLORY

In the final round of the Dunlop Super2 series, Matthew Payne has a great opportunity of securing the championship series title from his current 3rd position with 951 points, just 132 shy of leader Declan Fraser.


Payne is one of four drivers to have led in the points this year, and has shown his race pace and championship potential with consistently strong performances throughout 2022.


He also took on co-driving duties with Lee Holdsworth in this years' Repco Bathurst 1000 where the duo placed 6th overall.


With a full-time drive at Penrite Racing alongside David Reynolds lined up for Payne in 2023, the young gun is determined to close out his Super2 year on a high in what will be his Adelaide debut.


Payne, reflecting on the season said he is proud of what he has achieved so far and looks forward to closing out the season in Adelaide with great results for the Grove Racing team.



"The team have put in some mega effort this year and I can't thank them enough for helping get to where I am in the championship," said Payne


"Their support has been awesome and it always motivates me to push harder.


"It will be my first time racing at Adelaide and it's going to be a cool way to close out the series as everyone fights for the lead.



"It has been a good season and I am proud of what I have achieved and I am looking forward to bringing that experience to Penrite Racing next year."


Their first Practice session of the weekend will take place on Thursday December 1st.
