Grove Racing junior driver Oscar Targett is hoping to continue his strong form, as the Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge rolls into Townsville, in support of the Repco Supercars Championship.
The 18-year old Queenslander arrives in Townsville, following an important race victory at The Bend, which helped him to the overall round win, and propelled him into the lead of the Championship. Across the six races so far, Oscar is the only multi-winner in the category, after saluting in the opening race of the season at Phillip Island.
This weekend marks the first time in the series’ history that a round will be contested at a street circuit, with the Reid Park facility providing the perfect battleground for these talented young stars.
The weekend comprises of three races, two of which are sprints. The Sunday morning race is run over a longer distance, contributing to the coveted Jim Richards Endurance Trophy.

Oscar will take to the Townsville Street Circuit for the first time on Friday morning (8:55AM AEST) for Practice One. Practice Two will take place at 11:35AM on Friday. Qualifying and a 30-minute Race 1 will make up the action on Saturday.
Sunday sees two races, with Race 2 scheduled for 45-minutes in length. This will be the race that contributes to the Jim Richards Endurance Trophy. A 20-minute Race 3 will round out the weekend for the Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge at 12:45PM on Sunday.
