MIKA LEMASURIER CITY OF MELBOURNE TITLES: RACE REPORT

Mika LeMasurier boasts a litany of club, state and national podiums across his karting career. The Queensland-based youngster has recently become the Queensland State Champion in KA3 Junior.

The 36th City of Melbourne titles was completed this past weekend at Todd RD, Melbourne. It was a great weekend. Having raced here a few times I felt good from the get go. There were 4 x 8 minute practice sessions and an 8 minute Qualifying session. I topped the time sheets 3 out of the 4 times with a ninth in the last one as my wheel came off. Qualifying I came 3rd, my class only had 16 competitors so it wasn't made oversubscribed meaning I would start 3rd for the first two races. I had 3 heat races before the 17 lap final.

First two Heat races I had great pace moving up into 2nd and 1st, These results put me in 2nd for heat 3. The results in Heat 3 determined my starting position for the Final.

Unfortunately I was on the outside turn 1, lap 1, and another competitor understeered into me, spinning me out of the race. This was unfortunate as I put myself in that position and I paid the price.

After my DNF I started last for the final, my kart was consistently getting quicker each lap, the set up was fantastic and I was driving well, making passes every lap, I forged through the pack, I came home 3rd. It was upsetting not bringing home first as without my mistake it was ours. But that's racing, every race I continue being better and better.

Onto the final round of the Australian Kart Championship in one week!
