Grove Racing out to prove Mercedes-AMG package.

Grove Racing makes a welcome return to the Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia powered by

AWS as the series makes its way to Queensland Raceway. The Ipswich facility will play host to the EVENTelec Race Queensland, making up Round Five of the Shannons Speed Series.

In what has been a stunted season behind the wheel of the brand-new Mercedes-AMG GT3, Stephen and Brenton Grove arrive at Queensland Raceway optimistic of the weekend ahead.

Grove Racing are yet to score points this season, ineligible at Phillip Island after Stephen Grove fell ill throughout the weekend, and not choosing to participate at the previous round at The Bend, rather, focusing their attention to prepare for the 24 Hours of Portimao.

Despite the lack of concrete proof, Brenton’s pace at Phillip Island was indicative of a front-running car.

“Fingers crossed we are able to make the full weekend this time!” Brenton said.

Friday will play host to a double dose of practice action, with two one-hour sessions imperative for getting the Mercedes AMG-GT3 into the right window following limited running in 2024.

The Groves are increasingly confident that their Mercedes package will deliver strong results.

“Having recently tested at QR, I think it will suit the Mercedes really well.” Brenton said.

“The aero works to the strengths of the car, as do the long straights.”

“A podium is certainly the goal.”

Back-to-back qualifying sessions will set the grid for the two races, with the 20-minute sessions also deciding the Pirelli Pole Award for the Queensland Raceway event.

Race One will get underway in the Saturday twilight, with Sunday afternoon seeing off the weekend in style with a second hour-long race.

Fans can follow the action live and free on Seven and 7plus throughout the weekend.
